You Are Already Rising: A Closing Word for the Woman Who Made It Through August

By August 26, 2026No Comments

Maybe you thought restoration would feel more dramatic than this. Maybe you came into August hoping for a breakthrough — a prayer that rearranged something, a moment that divided your story cleanly into before and after. And maybe, sitting with this final post of the series, you find yourself still somewhere in the middle. Still healing in places. Still waiting in others. Still carrying things you hoped would be lighter by now. Can I tell you something? That doesn’t mean nothing happened. It means you might not yet be able to see what has already shifted. And what if rising isn’t a moment? What if it is a direction — and you have been moving in it all along?

The Myth of the Dramatic Turning Point

Our culture loves a dramatic turning point. The prayer that changes everything overnight. The revelation that arrives like lightning and rearranges the landscape of a life in an instant. And those moments are real — I believe in them. But they are not the whole story of how healing actually works for most of us.

Most real healing is quieter than that. It is the decision to come back to the breath when anxiety rises, for the hundredth time. It is showing up to one more episode, one more prayer, one more morning, one more ordinary day — because something in you has decided that ordinary days are worth showing up for. It is the almost imperceptible shift of beginning to believe, somewhere very deep, that you deserve the life you are slowly building.

A seed doesn’t explode from the ground. It presses upward slowly, steadily, in the dark — and the darkness is not failure. The darkness is where the growing happens. What felt like stillness this month, what might have felt like nothing significant occurring — that was not inertia. That was germination. Something was being prepared in you that you will not fully recognize until later, in a season you cannot yet see.

Do not let the quiet of it convince you that it wasn’t real.

What Isaiah Knew About Waiting

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Isaiah 40:31

The Hebrew word translated “hope” here is qavah — and it does not mean passive wishing. It means to wait with active expectation. To intertwine. Like multiple cords being wound together into a rope — the waiting itself is building the strength. The waiting is not wasted time. The waiting is the process by which the cord becomes unbreakable.

The word “renew” is chalaph — which means not simply to refill what was depleted, but to exchange. To give one thing and receive another in its place. God is not giving you back what was worn out. He is giving you something new. Something that did not exist in you before.

And consider the eagle: an eagle doesn’t fight the wind that rises against it. It finds the thermal updraft — the column of warm air created by the very storm — and it spreads its wings and lets the storm carry it higher than its own strength ever could. The wind that tried to destroy you becomes the wind that lifts you. That is not metaphor. That is the economy of God.

And then there is 2 Corinthians 5:17: “The old has gone, the new is here.” Restoration is not renovation. It is not patching and repainting and hoping the foundation holds. It is resurrection — a new creation, not the old one repaired, but something genuinely new being brought into existence in the place where the old thing ended.

You Are Already Rising

I want to speak directly to you now — the woman who is reading these words.

The fact that you are here — that you opened this post, that you listened to any part of this series, that you breathed through this month and reached for something true — that is rising. That is not a small thing. Please do not make it small.

Many survivors discount their own endurance. I didn’t have a choice, they say. Anyone would have done the same. But that is not true. Not everyone keeps reaching. Not everyone keeps showing up. Not everyone keeps choosing — in whatever small or quiet or imperfect way — to reach toward the light rather than away from it. You did that. You kept doing it. Even when you couldn’t feel it. Even when you weren’t sure it was working. Even on the weeks this month when you almost didn’t listen.

You are not the same woman who began this month. Something has shifted — even if it is too small to name yet, even if it lives only in the quiet undercurrent of who you are becoming. Something was tended here. Something was planted. Something is pressing upward in the dark, and it is going to surprise you.

The wounds that God holds don’t just heal. They become something else entirely — wisdom that goes into another woman’s midnight, compassion that feels like water to someone dying of thirst, a testimony that becomes bread for someone who is hungry for proof that survival leads somewhere worth going. You are not just being healed. You are being made into someone who carries healing for others.

You are already rising, dear one. You may not be able to feel it yet. But I can see it from here.

This month has meant something to me that I don’t have adequate words for yet. Walking through rest and restoration — not just as a teacher but as a woman who is still in the middle of her own — has been one of the most honest things I’ve done in a long time. Thank you for being here with me. Thank you for trusting this space with your healing. I carry you in my prayers — not as a category, but as real women with real names and real histories and real futures that are still being written. To the one who made it through August: you did it. And wherever you are in the story — beginning, middle, or somewhere you can’t yet name — I want to say this over you: keep going. The morning is coming, and it is already closer than it was.

Listen to This Week’s Episode — and What’s Coming Next

The final episode of our August series — “Rising Restored” — includes the full Rising Ritual practice, a complete word study of Isaiah 40:31 in the Hebrew, and my personal closing for this month of rest and restoration. I saved some things for the mic that I couldn’t put on the page — come listen at daylightinc.org or wherever you stream podcasts. And one more thing: September is coming. A new theme, a new month, and the continued unfolding of what God is doing in your story. The light is not done with you yet. Not even close.
