While teenagers enjoy social media sites such as Snapchat. these sites can present dangers for teens from those using social media sites for criminal acts.
According to WVVA, Michael Darnell Ramsey, age 47 plead guilty to using Snapchat in an attempt to sex traffic a 14-year old that he had previously met in person on at least 1 occasion.
Ramsey had been communicating with the teen via Snapchat. At some point, Michael Ramsey offered the teen $200 to engage in 2 sexual acts. Ramsey set up a date, time, and location in Greenbrier County to meet the 14-year old. When Ramsey arrived at the designated location on April 3, 2020, he was arrested.
Ramsey could be sentenced to a minimum of 10 years or a maximum of life in prison in prison on October 23, 2020. He will also be required to register as a sex offender if or when he is released from prison.
