I have to take each day hour by hour and frequently minute by minute as I never know how I am going to feel from one moment to the next.  I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD) in 2017 and then later that same year I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.  On a daily basis, I experience any combination of symptoms. The symptoms I experience most often are headaches, depression, anxiety, lack of confidence, self-isolation, insomnia, nightmares, lack of trust, muscle aches, nausea, lack of concentration, unexplained crying, and fatigue.   I know those are a lot of symptoms. Trust me I know!

I survived the abuse and now I’m working through the effects of it.  I feel like I’m still surviving. This has not been an easy road by any stretch of the imagination.  Some days are extremely harder than others.  Some days it feels like an accomplishment to get out of bed.  Making a things-to-do list helps me get through the day.  Checking off the items on my list gives me a sense of accomplishment.

Journaling about my symptoms, what and how I am feeling physically and mentally helps me to understand my triggers and release those feelings that would otherwise stay locked up inside of me.  Meeting with a Counselor has also helped.

Self-love, remaining consistent and being fully engaged in my healing process is what has helped me progress and move forward.  It’s not a race and it’s not about a timeline.  It’s all about me being healthy physically and mentally.
